With 19 years of experience in dental practice in the Austin area, Dr. Sumita Chakraborti Singh-Baker—affectionately known as Dr. Sumita—brings a blend of expertise and compassion to every patient she treats. After earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UT Austin, Dr. Sumita completed her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Baylor College of Dentistry, Texas A&M Health Science Center in 2006, specializing in restorative procedures across both general and cosmetic dentistry.

In 2017, Dr. Sumita made the difficult decision to sell her private practice in Steiner Ranch. Following the loss of her husband to a rare cancer in early 2018, she took a brief hiatus to focus on her family. Since then, she has continued to grow both personally and professionally, staying rooted in the Austin community she loves.

In February 2025, seven years after selling her practice, Dr. Sumita has embarked on a new journey—opening her own practice again, symbolically named Phoenix Dental. This name represents a fresh start, a rebirth, and a commitment to rising above challenges with renewed purpose and resilience.

Dr. Sumita’s approach to dentistry combines technical precision with an artistic eye, ensuring every patient receives expert care as well as a personalized, thoughtful experience. She believes in the power of empathy and strives to make each visit not only comfortable but enriching. Her vision for dental care blends skill, compassion, and creativity to offer a truly unique experience for every patient.
